Virtual Presentations

As a result of the current health crisis many schools have closed and moved to distance learning. Learning about kindness, empathy, and inclusion does not end just because students are not in brick and mortar classrooms. Sam is here to support all teachers, all parents, and all students through this challenging time. Now more than ever, students need opportunities to develop critical social-emotional skills for well-being.

Sam is now offering 30 minute Zoom sessions, either live, which allows for some Q&A, or pre-recorded. The basic offerings are below but Sam is happy to customize presentations to suit your needs. Contact Sam today to book your virtual presentation!

  • What does it mean to be different: In this 30 minute presentation I share with the students the story of my life growing up with a facial difference and hearing loss. I will screen share to show students a slideshow of pictures as I talk. This presentation will focus on how each one of us are different and not to judge a book by it’s cover.
  • Visible vs Invisible: This workshop will help students understand the difference between visible and invisible differences. That each of us are different from one another but many of those differences are not obvious on the outside and you have to take the time to get to know someone in order to learn about ALL of their differences.
  • Empathy in Action: What is empathy and how is it so much more than simply “putting yourself in someone else’s shoes”. This presentation will help students to unpack empathy and really think about what does empathy look like and sound like.
  • I Wonder: This workshop is only relevant to students who have read the book Wonder  by RJ Palacio. For this session it is essentially a Q and A time for students to ask me questions about my life experience. The purpose is to help bring Wonder to life for students in a new and unique way.
